When should I use single leg or multi-legged routes?

help
Initial minor errors of navigation become more magnified as distance increases so don’t try to take a bearing to a landmark too far away. Take a bearing to a landmark quite close and when you get there take another bearing and so on until you reach your destination.

Splitting the overall route into short legs means that it can be more safely undertaken in conditions of poor visibility such as in cloud, fog or at night.
